Pickup Point

I love this little pickup truck. My friend's Dad had one in the 70s, he carried all manner of things in the back, including us! Wouldn't be allowed today!

Fab Workshop

What a fabulous day I have had with 7 artist friends! Michael Clark a wonderful artist from Ayr, came down to Ringford Hall to hold a one day workshop!

The subject was a flower still life, which, of course, was right up my street!
We were working in acrylics - I have only ever used acrylic to tint my gesso to prime my boards so I was out of my comfort zone!
I am a convert and will definately use them on a regular basis!
Guess who was in charge of lunch?

Lino trees

What a great day we had at Clare Melinski's linocutting workshop! She is so encouraging, when you think you've messed it up but helps us find a way round it and we find ourselves on a different route and it all works out in the end!

I started with two sketches from my Glebe sketching afternoon and built up from there
Finally I took a piece of fabric and and using the two lino blocks, completed my design. What a fun day!

The Boss

I have been struggling with a larger painting of blown bicolour tulips! Anyone who knows me, knows I love painting tulips but these are looking as laboured as they felt painting them! So I decided I needed some light relief.
This is the boss of our house, B has her ruined! I may spoil her a teeny bit. She is sitting on her ( yes "her" ) chair, looking thoroughly dejected, waiting on her supper...
She's thinking, maybe they will feed me early if I keep this look up!

Fun Weekend

It's been a fun weekend and a busy one too! Saturday saw me baking cakes in the morning for our Sunday Popup Cafe.
The afternoon was spent in the studio, just having fun, experimenting with indigo ink, a watercolour brush, a marker pen and plain old cartridge paper

Whilst listening to a couple of podcasts and using photos from one of my walks last week. The dead tree was drawn first, all in black ink, just playing and swirling the brush. I then used a light pastel for the highlights. Barrhill Wood was done with the marker pen and indigo ink applied with a brush.

This morning I helped out at our popup cafe in aid of Kirkcudbright Arts and Crafts Trail. The monthly farmers' market was being held upstairs and we were supplying the much needed refreshments! We were kept very busy, it was great fun. One of our customers came in with some lovely tulips in her bag, which she had aquired for £1!! After showing interest she kindly went back upstairs to buy me some - when the stallholder knew I would be painting them, she gave them free of charge! How kind!
I finished my shift at 1.30pm so headed home for lunch and to tackle the ironing mountain that had sprouted in the back bedroom. Then I could go to the studio with a clear conscience!! I painted this little 6" square in a couple of hours. Tomorrow I hope to produce something a little bit larger before the tulips go over!

I'll finish the day off watching one of my favourite TV police detectives "Vera." Aaghhhh, the sigh of satisfactionhttp://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/margaret-milligan/bi-colour-tulip/232022
