A Poet, She knows It!!

My friend, Pauline is one of the most imaginative people I know! I may be a little biased, especially as she has written a poem about yours truly and the 30 in 30 Challenge! "Colour" was the theme set by Pauline's tutor at her weekly poetry class....

The Challenge

My friend rises at six
Begins to paint
A challenge set
Painting a picture a day
Mixing colour in the half light
Tilting the lamp
She picks up her brush
Applies the paint.
I turn over in my bed
It's eight o'clock
Another half hour I decided
A hour drifts by
As I make coffee she admires her work
Painting fifteen complete
The flower colours glow.

Hare Today, Hare Tomorrow

It has been a weekend of hares! I spent all day Saturday having great fun, linocutting. The workshop was run by Harry Potter cover illustrator, Claire Melinsky. We all produced such different work, which was fascinating in itself!
One lady was an embroiderer and was printing on fabric, building up a design that she can machine embroider over and enhance her design even further. Our token male, a young man who was there with his wife, produced such different designs too!

Yesterday, Sunday, I tidied the studio, changing things around, my shadow box is in the middle of the room now. We had a bracing walk on the beach after lunch, watched a silly film in front of a roaring fire, while our meal cooked

Now this might seem a bit strange for a woman in her fifties, but I LOVE the under 8s kiddies, Katie Morag series on CBeebies TV! The new series started this evening, it was all I expected it to be! Her grannies are two very different beings but she loves them equally. In this story, one granny comes to look after the other, who has a bad back! She decides to clean the house, using a spray cleaner called "dicht!" For all non Scots, it will mean nothing! To me and many others, it will remind them of their mothers' standing with a wet facecloth (flannel) calling us to "come till I dicht your face, you're a sicht!" In other words, get you face washed, you are a sight!! The "ch" is pronounced as you would in "loch."The top photo Katie Morag and her grannies

Lastly, come early evening, I got my pencils out and sketched the same hare, I used for all my linocuts

Daffy-Dilly

This little one is a quick oil sketch, lovely daffs given to me by Sheila last Monday, when we caught up on 7 years of news!
This variety of daffodil is much paler than the ones I painted during January's challenge. I am looking forward to getting a hold of some narcissus, the ones with nice orange/egg yolk centres! If anyone in Kirkcudbright would like to donate 2 or 3, I'd be very grateful!!!

Snowdrop Glassware

I know, I said I would post Wednesday but I had my life drawing session. I thought I'd post Thursday but it was  a glorious day and I spent it out with the dog. I thought I'd post Friday after my class but the dog won again! I thought I'd post this morning but we had a powercut!
The week of "buts" reminds of being a child when my life was just a series of "buts!" Time to get up for school...but I'm tired!! Tidy your bedroom...but I'm playing! Finish your dinner....but I'm not hungry! Time for bed....but just 5 more minutes! The usual parental reply to that one was "get your buts and your butt into bed right now!"
8" square oil on board £135 incl UK postage

I hope my wee snowdrops will "but-ter" you up till my next post!!

Many Forms of Art!!

After having a complete rest yesterday, I woke this morning, ready to face the household chores that have built up over the last 30+days!
See my masterpiece for the morning, Yum!!!
I cooked and filled the freezer with some meals then headed down to the studio after lunch!
I am now definately working on painting in more than a day!! I picked some snowdrops before they went over and show how far I have got in the photo below!
I have a friend visiting tomorrow and have my life drawing session in the evening so this won't be complete till Tuesday at the earliest!!
