Hydrangea Blooms

Hydrangea Blooms - I am so pleased with this one, Hydrangeas are so lovely to paint, the colour range is vast, love them, love them!
I have been up since before 6am , out painting frames in my nightie and painting cardigan, wonderful combination, believe me! Then that's when things started to go downhill, the two frames I glued and clamped, fell to bits when I started pinning them this morning, agh! So crabbit, I've left them.
I am sitting in at the Tolbooth Arts Centre this morning, a gorgeous exhibition of renowned artisan silversmith and designer Michael Lloyd's work, it's on till the 27th. You can see his designs from the sketchbook stage up to the finished piece, fascinating plus I love looking at artists sketchbooks!

Nasturtium

I don't have a name for this one, so I'd appreciate suggestions!
I feel like I've been spinning like a top today. I sold another painting yesterday at the Town Hall and took down two spares this morning as everything is now on the wall. When I got home, I got a call to say another one has sold!
I am panicking, I'm trying to paint stock for Kirkcudbright Art and Craft Trail which is on in only two weeks. I make my own frames, it is so time consuming...
This afternoon I am painting hydrangea blooms, it is going so well.... then the blooms wilted with the heat and my spotlight while I was painting a batch of frames...eek!

Sam's Daisy

Sam's Daisy - on my way home one day I plucked up the courage and asked Sam for a couple of his large daisy blooms. I love white flowers but they are a right ....to paint! I've done three, each time my "whites" are based on a different hue. This one you can see is a warm pink.

Greengate Flowers

This is the finished painting of the flowers my friend Pauline gave me last Wednesday when she visited. The white sweet peas changed each day as they opened, very frustrating! I wiped that whole side out at one point! Apologies for the photo quality, the light has got in on the top right side and whitened that whole area. I'd best try and take another photo tomorrow!

Linocutting Once Again!

I have been on another of Clare Melinski's linocutting workshops. It is so intense from 10am, I get so into it, by 3pm I was completely exhausted. A cup of coffee couldn't even pick me up so I'm afraid I wasted the last hour but I am very happy with what I produced today. I love printing on fabric, much more than on paper

Left Over Oil Paint!

After picking up on the tip given by portrait artist Nicky Philipps as she painted Simon Westons's portrait, I have no worries of having to throw out expensive paint or going into the studio in the morning to crusted over paint! She places her paints in the freezer the night before, so she is ready to start in the morning!
I now put all my leftover paint, the stuff straight from the tube and the mixed paint, on my enamel plate, covered with cling film straight into my outhouse chest freezer on my way back to the house! It also means my studio palette is all clean and ready to go the next day!
The flat plate has just been taken out, I'm going to go back to a work I started at the weekend. The enamel bowl is just going in the freezer, colours I have been using this morning!
I also love to see the colours and tones I have mixed, all together and looking pretty!
