I think I am beginning to like my black ground again, so much so I have gessoed some more boards! This is the last plum tomato painting for a while, I will have these last four for my lunch tomorrow - so say "goodbye" everyone!
You will see the lime green cup, as I love it! I needed to use up the colours I had mixed yesterday so this has been a money saving exercise too! Time to clean my palette, ready for tomorrow! Let's hope I can keep up this momentum in February!!
I like this direct overhead vantage point. Are you doing this from observation, how do you set it up? I am enjoying this composition alot!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, yes I am working from life. I have old wallpaper books which I take apart and use the papers for my backdrops etc. This one was set up on my medium level stool, sheet of wallpaper below my props and I adjusted my lamp till it gave the shadow formation I wanted. I am particularly fond of looking down on the subject though it is harder to paint
DeleteThe black appears to provide a harmony - like when a "mother color" is used and it adds a wonderful support for this fabulous design and painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Julie, am now enjoying this experience after a faulty start!
